Today was the last day of the year 2024.
I have a TTC monthly pass anyway, so I got up early and went to see if I could get into the Toronto Zoo event I blogged about yesterday for free. As it turned out, there was a charge for admission. When I asked the staff, he said, ‘Yeah, it's hard to understand, but there is a charge for admission. If that's the case, should have written it more clearly! So I got on the bus again and went home. On my way, I bought a Krispy Kreme doughnut for breakfast. After that, I did a few errands and was lazy at home.
In the evening, my host family bought lobster, crab, sushi and fresh oysters, we had a seafood party. They taught me how to peel lobster for I had never eaten it before. I prefer lobster because the crab had less meat than the Japanese one. The sushi was fancy and not ‘sushi’ in the Japanese sense, but I didn't mind because my senses are already buggered. I didn't eat raw oysters because I was afraid of getting a stomach ache.
After dinner, we had a chat and rest, and then counted down the New Year. We all shook a jar of coins while watching a live broadcast from New York on TV. Shaking a jar of coins seems to be a Filipino tradition. And after the New Year's Eve, we drank champagne.
Apparently there were fireworks in Toronto and Niagara Falls, which I would have liked to have seen, but it was a nice New Year's Eve spent with my host family.
