〈2024-11-03〉Peruvian Food 101

Diary

Today I did nothing and I told you that I would introduce the Peruvian restaurant "El Inka" on Halloween. So that is now.

It was my first time eating Peruvian food. My friends are from Peru, so I left the ordering to them. We ate Trio Marino and Inka Criollo. Trio Marino is a dish, rice with seafood like a paella, fried squid and cassava, large corn, and spicy marinated fish. And, Inka Criollo is a dish, seasoned rice, chicken that tastes like curry, and beef that is cooked to a tenderloin. I loved both of them. They are so tasty. Especially, I liked Inka Criollo.

Actually, I have hated indica rice ever since I ate Mexican food in the U.S., which was pasty and mysteriously seasoned. But when I came to Canada, I felt that Indica rice is not bad, although it is not suitable for Japanese food. (Actually, I heard that people in the Philippines, Brazil, and Peru, in addition to China and Korea, eat rice on a daily basis.) Peruvian and Brazilian food, which are also located in South America, are delicious, and the Mexican food I ate in Japan was also delicious, so maybe that restaurant in the US was simply bad.

Also, we drank purple juice and yellow cola. Both drinks are traditional. The purple juice had a hint of cinnamon. The yellow cola tasted much better than Coca-Cola.

After dinner, we ate a traditional doughnut. I heard that they are eaten with honey. I didn't like it because it was a bit greasy and not sweet. But my friends from Peru also said they were not tasty, so it might be a problem with the store.

I would like to go again, but I wonder if I can order in Englishーmy friend spoke to the waiter in Spanish haha.
